Up-Cycling Interior Design Trends: Patchwork

Patchwork has quite literally been around for centuries and made from China to America as a way to create warm bedding, especially quilts from pieces of pre-used fabric. The revival of hand-made soft furnishings has seen an increase in patchwork, particularly for cushions and bedding, however, in today's modern world you can get the look without having to spend time sewing as duvet sets with pre-printed patchwork designs are readily available.

In some ways you'll think this is cheating – and I have to agree to a certain extent, particularly if you're looking for ways to up-cycle and re-cycle unwanted fabrics and materials. You can make patchwork from just about any malleable fabric, from leather (I've seen a stunning patchwork rug made from old leather belts as well as sofas and chairs recovered in patchwork designs) to old curtains and clothing.

The 'art' of patchwork can be complex – the simplest forms being squares which are cut to size and sew together. You can even purchase fabrics which are sold as patchwork bundles where the colour and patterns have been selected to compliment each other – taking the 'guess work' out of finding similar colour shades to create a beautiful quilt. More complex patterns and designs command high prices due to the labour intensity and number of 'man-hours' it takes to make a stunning patchwork quilt or bed throw.

2012 Interior Design Trends: Chinese Year of the Dragon

This year is the year of the dragon and not just any dragon, The Black Water Dragon to be exact. For those who have their homes organised and live by Feng Shui will love bringing soft golds teamed with black, blues and greens into their homes this year. Obviously the element of water is to be included along with wood and earth.

Integrate gold stripes into your home on duvet cover sets, bed throws and cheap cushions to team with black and blues to create a rich and interesting colour palette in the bedroom. Don't forget to abide by the rules of Feng Shui when deciding where furniture and furnishings should be placed within a bedroom.

The soft golden hues will bring warmth to your home and while earth is represented by rich earthy colours these can also incorporate the natural tones and colours of wood, making browns and greens ideal colours to blend with gold if you don't like black.

In bathrooms accessories of seashells and fish will be more than acceptable, while living rooms could include black dragon images or ceramic figurines. Just because it's the year of the dragon doesn't mean you have to go mysterious and mystical – take your inspiration from the Chinese and have a Happy & Prosperous Year of the Black Water Dragon.

2012 Interior Design Trends: Reflecting Your Personality

We all know, or should do, that our interior décor, the colours we choose to use and our tastes in furniture and furnishings should reflect our personality. However, for many having the spare cash to get the designer interior we lust after is a dream we hope one day will come true.

This year is a year for change and despite the gloomy economy and high unemployment figures hope is always on the horizon. You should remember that you're not alone, retailers are also struggling in many areas and as such are offering some great discounts as well as generous sale prices.

'Strike while the iron is hot', so to speak and look for a bedding sale to re-vamp your bedroom on a budget with cheap duvet covers and ready made curtains uk. Up-dating your home is a great morale booster, so rather than let the 'winter blues get you down' surf the net and find yourself some great bargains.

Look for online retailers who guarantee quality and offer such things as free fabric samples to enable you to 'feel the quality of the cloth' before you make your final decision on colour and pattern.

There's a lot of proverbial sayings in this post and whilst I'm no great believer there may be something in them to make you take note and be inspired to change your interior this year to reflect the real you!

2012 Interior Design Trends: Eco Colours

Eco, eco-friendly, eco-awareness 'going green' are buzz words which we hear repeated again this year and whilst this is not a bad thing, I don't know about you but it's becoming rather glib – as such interior designers have embraced the eco trend with the use of colour palettes inspired by nature along with promoting the use of natural materials and up-cycling in our homes.

This style lets you chose which aspects of nature interest you the most; for example those who live near or love the sea can adopt colours which remind them of stiff sea breezes and white horses created by crashing waves. This style is not the typical coastal or beach interior design styles that we've also become accustom to. This year the colours come from Northern Europe and are far more invigorating than sand yellows and sky blues.

Others can turn towards Scandinavia for inspiration by using eco-friendly wooden furniture and furnishings with soft grey and white colours interspersed with pops of natural colours, typically greens and blues.

Simple kitchen blinds made from natural cottons and kitchens rugs made from jute are just a couple of examples of how you can bring this fresh new look into your home.

2012 Interior Design Trends: Urban

This style carries on from last year, with energetic and dynamic interiors fired by bright reds, whites and steely greys. Chic and trendy, this style is ideal for those on a tight budget as pre-moulded plastics, concrete and metal are the key features.

Sofas and mismatched chairs can be piled with cheap cushions and in the bedroom cheap duvet covers in bright bold colours along with trendy steel grey bed throws are all that is needed for warmth and comfort.

Use rugs to cover concrete flooring, along with floor lamps rather than central lighting and the look comes together to create light airy loft apartments which have the vibes of fast paced, contemporary city life which is easy to achieve and maintain.

If red is not your favourite colour use this year's bright orange or oceanic blues and greens as accents against white walls and ceilings, to get the vibrant, dynamic look that oozes chic styling.

Don't forget to add different textures to stop the apartment look cold and lifeless. Distressed leather, plastics and a range of tactile fabrics and textiles will do the trick without having to spend too much.

2012 Interior Design Trends: Hot Couture

We are all aware that red and pink are perfect colours to create a romantic look to bedrooms and this year it's not surprising that hot-red is forecast to be one of the hottest colour trends. Bright bold reds are toned down by using grey accents to create rooms with attitude and character. This colour isn't for the faint hearted – it does what it says and injects emotion and vibrancy into a room.

You can also tone things down a little by introducing soft golds and whites in a Neo Baroque inspired style. This style also allows you to paint antiqued styled furniture with bright bold reds to sit next to raspberry coloured walls. The furniture may be up-cycle but it doesn't have the Shabby Chic look – it's crisp and dynamic, screaming out to be noticed!

You can get the look by bringing hot-red into your rooms as an accent colour. Make cheap cushions or place red-pink rugs beside your bed. As red is the colour associated with food as well as romance splash pink-reds into your kitchen with new kitchen blinds or kitchen rugs and feed your family's appetite for good food and fabulous interior design inspirations!

2012 Interior Design Trends: Heritage

Once again we see an emphasis on looking to our heritage, with shades of grey, brown and creams being the main colour schemes. This style means we could in fact go to 'brocantes' to find bygone treasure such as silver plated or pewter accessories if we don't have any family heirlooms of our own to display.

This style also reflects the warmth and comfort that the past holds for most of must. Beautiful damask curtains that may remind us of our grandparents, antique photo frames holding sepia photos can all be put on display around our homes.

Bed throws with hand finished trim don't have to be inherited pieces as new versions can comfortable sit side by side with new to achieve a comforting and welcoming look in our homes. Add lots of textures to your rooms so that they don't become flat and boring, cheap cushions in a variety of shapes and fabrics can be piled onto sofas, chairs and beds to get the look.

2012 Interior Design Trends: Brocante

For those who aren't used to hearing or seeing the word 'brocante' in French it basically means 'boot fair' – so the new buzz word in interior design is 'brocante' which sounds far chicer than boot fair! The style encompasses mixing old with new and reflects the current economic climate. It could also be the 'new' shabby chic and it's basis is fundamentally the same.

You visit a brocante and purchase second hand goods, haggle for a good price and grab yourself a bargain. As the saying goes “one man's rubbish (or junk) is another man's treasure”. However, if you don't want a newer version of Shabby Chic you can still grab a bargain as the customary January sales have begun in earnest.

Soft furnishings, curtains, cheap cushions, blinds, kitchen rugs and bedding sale prices means that you don't have to settle for second best or second hand. And whilst I'm not condemning second hand I do wonder why people go for this option where there are so many great finds to be had on the internet and the high street where soft furnishings are concerned.

Ask yourself 'do you really want to sleep on a stranger's used sheets?' - I know I wouldn't go that route – what's your feelings on taking this stance?

Looking Back – 2010 Highlights

2010 has been an exciting time in interior design, so let's take a quick look back and remind ourselves of the highlights.

I began the year by sharing the new trends and colours forecast to be big throughout the year – we saw designers re-cycle and up-cycle, create eco-friendly interiors and focused on using the space in our homes to their full potential.

By the summer we'd given you ideas on how to make statement headboards as well as ways to brighten bedrooms and kitchens on a budget. We touched on fantasy ideas to bring a completely new look to your rooms and took a brief look at using Feng-Shui.

We also talked a lot about window dressings, the art of layering and how the catwalk can also inspire interior design ideas. As autumn approached we looked at using bed throws, cheap rugs, curtains and blinds to help keep your homes warm and cosy; and of course in December we've looked at ways to add festive cheer into your rooms.

So what's in store for next year? Well, we can look forward to more stunning interior design trends, new colours, different perspectives on design as well as tips and hints on how to transform your home on a budget. 2012 is set to be more fascinating than ever before, especially as designers are introducing to their latest design innovations which we take build or adapt to suit our own homes.

Let's Get Ready to Party!

I love the seeing in the New Year and although I do like the hustle and bustle of Christmas I'm glad when it's over and life returns to some sort of normality! For me New Year's Eve spent with friends, eating scrumptious food and a full glass is my idea of heaven.

I also get fed up with the traditional festive colours, so this year my New Year feast will be in bright bold colours with subtle touches of sparkle. I love this turquoise/teal colour, it tones beautifully with lots of other colours surprisingly – think of a peacock and all the colours in the tail feathers and it will give you an idea of which other colour or colours to team with teal.

I also like the idea of having everything the same colour – it makes a real change from the norm. Match teal curtains with cushions, throws and cheap rugs to see if you can live with the colour or whether you just want to use it for special occasions. Maybe the soft furnishings could be a shade darker and that will help to draw attention to the table setting, which is of course the focal point in this style of room.

Spruce Up Your Interior For Christmas – Kid's Rooms

I couldn't leave out kid's rooms – especially at Christmas! You'll find that the great thing about soft furnishings like curtains, beddings and rugs is that these come in a dizzying array of designs spanning everything from under the sea to outer space. Kids and their parents then have plenty of selections to choose from that will suit the formers' interests and preferences in room décor. In short, anything goes.

There's no need to purchase new pieces of furniture like a bed, tables and chairs, wardrobes and storage shelves. Simply changing the soft furnishings in the room gives the area a new look although you may also want to apply a fresh coat of paint to the walls.

Parents and kids can choose from numerous themes most of which come in complete sets from childrens curtains to the rugs and from the duvet cover sets to pillowcases. If your desired theme does not come in a set, I suggest improvising. For example, buy fabric with TV character prints, cut a few figures and then pin (use safety pins) onto the curtains for a Christmas theme which is special for you child – these can easily be removed in the New Year.

If you don't want to be woken at the crack of dawn on Christmas Day, or any other day for that matter blackout curtains are always worth considering for kids rooms!

Spruce Up Your Interior For Christmas – Hallways

Make a real feature of your hall or entrance which gives your guests a taste of what's in-store when they enter your home.

Use colour in entryways and hallways is to use it to create the illusion of larger spaces. Take note that most houses have small hallways and entryways unless we are talking about palaces and mansions. Anyway, the general rule is that the lighter the colours on the walls, the larger the area appears to be.

Thus, stay away from dark wall colours and décor especially when it comes to curtains and rugs. Pale-coloured curtains, rugs and runners make the area stretch since the hues recede from the eye. Think of pale blues, greens and yellows, all of which are the colours of the outdoors, thus, creating the illusion of space.

However, the far wall should ideally be a darker hue than the walls nearer the door. The entryway or hallway then appears to be wider than it really is. No need to get a new can of paint for this purpose as even a curtain will do the trick, not to mention that you can choose patterned curtains to add flair to the area.

Festive touches can be as simplistic or lavish as you wish. Decorate the stair banister with garlands, ribbon and bows – if you don't have a banister a simple garland draped over a mirror, or a piece of mistletoe are great ways to welcome guests!

Spruce Up Your Interior For Christmas - Bathrooms

The choice between using a full or partial window dressing depends on your need for privacy first and on your bathroom's design second. For example, in a bathroom with floor-to-ceiling windows, full opaque curtains or wooden blinds will be a must when there are neighbours. Full sheer curtains are great when the house is in the woods where nosy neighbours are nowhere to be found!

Go for Decorative Accents:
Don't forget the decorative accents using soft furnishings either. Think of the ways that the area above the mirror or the sink can be livened up by placing swags of colourful fabric artfully twisted into a valance. Or place a valance over the shelves to add a pop of colour into a utilitarian space.

Even colourful towels can become decorative accents when placed in visible spaces. The bath will look nicer when a double towel bar with patterned towels is positioned over it. Better yet, swap your old, tired towels with new ones or hang new hand and face towels for added flair – mix and match until the colours complement each other.
You can go festive and add a little tree to stand on the vanity unit or window sills – I'd prefer candles scented with festive fragrances such as spiced mulled wine, fir trees or Christmas pudding!

This is for some the only time of the year when their dining room is used solely for eating! Festive tables piled high with food for informal dining or more formal table settings using the 'best' china will play an important part of your festivities. So, a couple of tips to help your spruce up your dining room in time for Christmas.

Liven Up Tables and Chairs:
Obviously, tables can be spruced up with tablecloths and place mats. Even when your table looks tired, so to speak, the addition of stylish soft furnishings as well as pretty-looking tableware can instantly make it more inviting. Browse online for interesting tablecloths and placements. Don't forget the chairs either. You have the choice of either covering the upholstery with slip-covers or wrapping them with inexpensive curtain fabric.

Display the Towels and Napkins:
Colourful, pretty and attractive towels and napkins can form part of the décor as well as serve their utilitarian purposes. Place the towels on creative hooks, while the napkins can be displayed in glass cabinets or placed on the table.
With a little imagination and plenty of soft furnishings, your kitchen can truly become the enter of pleasant festive activity in your home.

I'm deliberately going to steer away from all the razzmatazz and commercial side of the festive season for living rooms and suggest that you use your curtain poles or tracks as a means of hanging natural and handmade festive decorations.

Combine these with pretty bowls filled with pine cones in various shapes and sizes along with home-made tree decorations, such as gingerbread men, iced biscuits, cinnamon sticks tied with red bows and natural items that you found in your garden or while taking a walk. For those who like to have a more calm festive season these types of decorations show that you have great interior design flair and can turn your hand to create stunning displays which you've made yourself.

The great thing about using your curtain poles to hang decorations is that you can add decorations to every room in your home in a subtle and whimsical way without having to spend lots of money. You can also use natural or home-made items as tiebacks to your curtains to give a coordinated look to your windows.

Think outside the box this Christmas and make your own decorations to suit colour scheme and style of your living room.

As we know your entrance and hall is the key to your home and as we also know 1st impressions count, so the best place to start sprucing up your interior for Christmas is your font door and hall.

A simple yet stylish wreath can be used to set the scene so to speak and give your visitor a taste of what's in store when they enter your home! If your interior theme is traditional then your door wreath should be traditional in style as well. Either make your own or buy pre-made, the choice is yours.

The hall is next, not only should it be clutter free it should give a teasing glimpse of your Christmas décor. Add a miniature tree, real or artificial, to your hall table along with a subtle decoration sitting on top of your hall mirror. If your stairs are also in your hall you can really go to town decorating the banisters or stairs themselves.

Make sure you leave space for people's boots (you never know it could be snowing this Christmas!) and hooks for coats. Large rugs will help to protect your carpet or flooring, sisal rugs are a robust and practical choice for halls and entrances.

Spruce Up Your Interior For Christmas – 10 Point Planning

It's that time of year again and as 1st December (the day many people put up their decorations) is only a week away you need to start planning ready to spruce up your interior for Christmas!

So over the next few posts I thought I'd share some great interior design trends to add a magical festive feel to your interior.

I'm going to start with a the all important planning.

1. Choose a theme and colour scheme which compliments your décor and your interior design style.

2. Try not to over complicate things and opt for quality over quantity.

3. Decide which room or rooms you're going to spruce up and which ones don't need any real attention.

4. Focus on the room where your tree is going to be placed as this is the room that people will gravitate towards.

5. Don't forget 1st impressions count so try not to neglect your front door, entrance and hall.

6. Think of new and innovative ways to make your decorations stand out from the crowd.

7. Be realistic! There's no point in having a tree so large that nobody can sit down. If you want a large tree consider an alternative place for it such as the hallway or dining room.

8. If you have small rooms look for trendy alternatives to a tree.

9. If you really want a specific colour and it doesn't coordinate with your soft furnishings use cheap rugs, cushions and throws to temporarily change your colour scheme.

10. As we know up-cycling and home-made is bang on-trend within the world of interior design and what better way to show case your creative skills than creating a stunning interior to wow your family and friends!

Interior Design Winter Warmers: Large Rugs

Today I'm taking a look at draughty floors!! Stripped floorboards look brilliant in many homes, as do stone and tiled floors, however, when it comes to winter they types of flooring at be cold on the feet.

An inexpensive and on-trend way to deal with this issue to use large rugs. They'll help your feet stay warm and are (in my opinion) far easier to keep clean than fitted carpets. I have to admit that once I read about how many bugs, the amount of dirt and grime which fitted carpets harbour I no longer have fitted carpets and I don't recommend them to anyone.

I do use cheap rugs in most rooms. They're a great way to add colour and different textures. It's also a good idea to have rugs for the different seasons. Keep the darker colours for winter as they show less marks and use paler shades to give rooms an instant lift and pick-me-up in spring and summer.

We can't all afford, nor have the time to redecorate every year, yet if you change your curtains and add floor rugs you can give your home a new dimension at least twice a year – it's also a great way of keeping your home topped-up with the latest interior design trends and colours.

Interior Design Winter Warmers: Kitchen Rugs

With the trend for natural flooring such as stone, slate or ceramic tiles in kitchens the floor can become cold during the winter, especially if you walk around without shoes or slippers! Without spoiling the look and style of your kitchen there's a huge range of kitchen rugs available which are the ideal winter warmers.

Team the colour with your window blinds or curtains to bring a chic look to your kitchen and look for rugs which have been designed to take the spills of general kitchen life. If your flooring is polished tiles it may be wise to use anti-slip matting otherwise you may find yourself skating across the room!

The latest styles and designs are a far cry from the tatty looking kitchen rugs used in the past to lay on top of lino – today rugs are available in a wonderful array of plain colours or patterns to suit various interior design styles.

If you're interior design style encompasses up-cycling then why not make your own rugs? I've seen them made from old leather belts (without the buckles) and even neck-ties!

So, while you're preparing food or simply making a quick cuppa, treat yourself to a kitchen rug to help keep your feet beautifully warm this winter.

Interior Design Winter Warmers: Window Blinds

Most of us have window blinds in at least one of our windows. Typically blinds are used as an effective window covering for bathrooms and kitchens. However, if you have a loft conversion with skylight windows the only really effective, practical and functional window dressing is to use skylight blinds. These blinds are made specifically for skylight windows and fit snugly onto the inner frame of the window. There are presently two different types of skylight blinds, the most popular being a roller blinds, while Velux make a Venetian blind to fit their skylight windows.

Loft conversions are renowned for becoming hot in the summer and blackout blinds can be used to try and block out the heat successfully. In the winter loft and attic conversions can become cold as there is little insulation between the roof and the outside world. We already know that heat loss via windows constitutes a considerable amount, as much as 50% of heat loss – which means that you're heating outside rather than inside! This in itself can mean an awful lot of energy simply disappears through windows.

In loft conversions the same applies so it would be a wise move to install skylight blinds that have thermal properties. These blinds will keep room loft room warm and leave the chilly night air where it should be – outside!

Interior Design Winter Warmers: Bed Throws

Let's turn our attention to bedrooms and look at cost-effective ways to add warmth. Bed throws have to be the easiest winter warmer when it comes to bedding. Look out for the latest faux fur styles which are soothingly tactile and a great way to keep warm.

Use your usual duvet covers sets and as they name suggests, simply throw an additional layer over the top. Opt for extra large bed throws, one size bigger than your bed , for example if you have a standard 4' 6” double bed then use a king size bed throw. This will allow for plenty of overspill with the throw and help stop cool areas arising – this idea is also great for those who have to fight for their fair share of the duvet each night!

Many bed throws are available in a wide range of sizes, so there's no need to scrimp on size to get the style, pattern and colour you want. Look out for coordinating scatter cushions in faux fur to give your bed a very warm and inviting look this winter. If your feet are always cold neatly fold a bedding blanket across the foot of your bed or resort to the humble hot water bottle to keep your feet toasty warm!

Interior Design Winter Warmers: Thermal Blinds

Brrrrr, it's getting colder by the day or certainly feels like it although we've had an Indian Summer and temperatures are above average for the time of year!

Before the really cold weather does arrive (and we all know that it will!) now is the time to think about interior design winter warmers – so if you put off fixing a draughty window or the wind is whistling through your patio doors you should put these right or do something about them!

Thermal blinds are an ideal solution and can be fitted to all windows whether they're double glazed or not. Statistics show that most homes lose a tremendous amount of heat through their windows despite them being double glazed.

Triple glazing can of course reduce heat loss but that would also be a major investment few of us can afford. So, the next best thing is to give your window dressings some more layers. Fitting thermal blinds, roller blinds and even lining your curtains will help reduce heat loss.

Use both, fully lined curtains and thermal blinds, and you'll be giving your windows a double helping of insulation which will lower fuel bills and keep you snug even on the coldest days and nights.

This season we see the return of the 1950's and 60's, however rather bold and bright you'll need to think along the lines of subtly stylish, with gently curved furniture with slim-line or tapered legs rather than bold and chunky.

Mid twentieth century retro looks will use patterns sitting alongside light and airy colours such as duck egg blues, lemons and various shades of white. Nothing says tropical more than tropical plants. The most well known tropical plant is in fact the Arecaceae, more commonly known as the palm tree. There are in fact many thousands of different varieties, such as the well recognised coconut palm or date palm. However for indoors you may wish to consider much smaller varieties - of which there are also many. In fact there are a number that do not grow beyond five feet, ideal for indoor use.

In addition, rich brown leathers are very commonplace, as are other animal designed fabrics. Leopard spotted fabric can often look cheap and tacky, however, when combined with a tropical feel it eases in very nicely and actually looks much more refined . The same is true for zebra stripes and the like. You still need to be careful not to use too much of it, but small areas such as on cushions or floor rugs is ideal.

Plants come in all shades of green, and you will find that using contrasting shades will help you room look elegant and modern. In order to make the perfect green coloured bedroom, you will need the majority of the room to be a light, pale green. You will, however, need to have a few items of dark green in the room, such as a number of plants or dark green highlights on the patterns of the wall and duvet cover sets. Complete the green theme with dark brown or grey furniture and you will have the modern décor of class nature.

In my last post I talked about plum and aubergine as accent or complimentary colours to team with green. However, being such a regal colour, it can become too serious if used incorrectly. Influential Interior Designers – Charles Rennie Mackintosh

For those of you who have become to know me through this blog will have realised that one of my favourite interior designers is Charles Rennie Mackintosh. For those of you who are new to reading my blog I will give you my reasons why Rennie Mackintosh should be at the top of influential interior design.

Born in Scotland in 1868, he attended the Glasgow School of Art and became a pioneer and member of what became known as 'the four'. Principally an architect in the early days due to hardship he began painting and designing textiles.

During his career he was inspired by the concept of the Modernist movement; where innovative ideas and new technologies embraced design which was concerned with the present and the future as opposed to history and to tradition. The heavy ornamentation and inherited styles were disregarded and even though Mackintosh is known as the pioneer of the Modernist movement his designs were a far cry from the bleak utilitarianism of Modernism.

His main concern was to view people as individuals rather than producing and designing for the masses, he took much of his inspiration from his Scottish upbringing and weaves them together with a flourish of Art Nouveau and the simplicity of Japanese forms.

The Royal Horticultural Chelsea Flower Show is in full swing this week – and what does this have to do with interior design? Following on from my last post I firmly believe that your home is where you share your family life, your home is where you share good times with friends, and your home is where you take comfort from the daily grind of work and other stresses. Therefore it is a place that you want to make sure you are totally comfortable in and by using the right colours throughout, you will be able to achieve this. It is wise when you are considering decorating, to think exactly, what the colours are for you? What are the colours that you like? But perhaps more importantly what are the colours that you can live with?

We know, or should do!- that you can get paint and wholesale fabric samples and these really are a great way to find colours you can live with and which compliment each. Arm yourself with as many as you can in colours and patterns you love and then make yourself an ideas board or simply walk around your rooms with your samples until you get the 'gut feeling' 'this is right'! Interior designers may say you're wrong but at the end of the day it's you who has to live with the colours you've chosen and if they make you happy then you'll have found colours that you can truly live with!

The third aspect of interior design which will be seen this year is re-balancing – the experts believe that we, the consumers, have become tired of being constantly bombarded by marketing and are looking for products which are personal and enable us to turn our houses into homes. The second of the interior design trends that will be seen this year is 'Surprising Empathy'. As we pack away our festive decorations we also look at the improvements we can do to our homes – maximising space is one of the biggest problems. However, whilst we're still in high spirits and still on the 'wave' our New Year's resolution now is the time to give serious consideration to the space we call home!

We are high-spirited going into the first week of the New Year and what better way to celebrate than with some whimsical décor inspiration? A touch of whimsy can be achieved by doing something surprising and unexpected with your décor – whether it be an eclectic mix, adding in humour or being creative and playful...something that will raise an eyebrow or two!

In this post I'm going to share more interior design ideas for creating a stunning bathroom which is more suited to modern and contemporary styled homes.

Contemporary and elegant, the graphic bathroom is high shine - so sleek and smooth!
